I want to purchase an expensive item from a stranger across the country but don’t want to use PayPal — help!?

Question by skorn: I want to purchase an expensive item from a stranger across the country but don’t want to use PayPal — help!?
I need to buy a part for my truck from someone far away but don’t want to use paypal… is there another way that is safe? I don’t want to risk the blackguarding running off with my money if I send him a personal check! Is there a way that I tin pay him but be protected from fraud? What about those checks that my credit card company always sends me that are linked to my credit card? Do they offer fraud protection?

If you attached your credit card to your paypal account and then use that to pay for the separating, you are getting the exact same protection as if you used the card card directly.– I have opened disputes with my cc company having paid this way and have always won (unfortunately, have had to do it 2-3 times). Normally paypal has a 45 day dispute timeline. Your credit card will probably have a 60 day dispute deadline.

Q & A: The credit card companies cover identity theft?

Question by Sal : The credit card companion cover identity theft If someone puts his hand on my credit card number and charge up a bunch of stuff online, the company has no credit card covers you for this? I think they should, because they must have guarantees and protections in place to ensure that the card transaction is real. I can not do on my end. And if they do not already have it or are responsible, why am I always called and asked me to sign for the Protection of identity theft to $ 9.97 months more? Is it a cunning of some sort to get the money they lose because they can not work together and protect cardholders from fraud? Does anyone know he real story here? Best answer: Answer

I had someone steal my CC # and use it to earn more than 100.00 at a local restaurant. I called my card company and they were very helpful. Basically I was asked a few questions, sent me an afffidavit to sign stating that I have not loaded, and gave me a new card number /. They then went after those involved.

My sister stole my credit card and charged it without my permission.?

Question by sw3etpnaii: My sister stole my credit card and charged it without my permission.?
My sister stole my credit card and charged it without my permission. She called WellsFargo and changed my address so I wouldn’t get the statements. WellsFargo claims to have FRAUD PROTECTION but is useless if a family member committed the crime. I want to sue her because she ruined my credit ( so bad that I cant level get a cellphone under my name) and was constantly harrassed by the collection agency. I was in “A” school for the navy and the collection agency harrassed me to the point that i ended up in the hospital for attempted suicide because i was too stressed out. Im just wondering what kind of a lawsuit is this and how much can i sue her for?

How could someone clone or “skim” my credit card if i never lost sight of it?

Question by ḂṘḬḀṄṄḀ: How could someone clone or “skim” my credit card if i never lost sight of it?
i am very cautious of where my credit card goes, and the last place i used it in was a store where i had a new car stereo installed in my SUV. I never lost sight of it. Next thing i knew (8 hours later or so), i was informed of a failed transaction for $ 18,000. Failed because i do have that system that informs me of every transaction with my credit card, and i do have to authorize if it’s over $ 500. I also had fraud protection, but i would like to know if you have an idea as of how these “skimmers” work.Thanks.

It’s usually a piece of hardware physically piggybacked on the card reader. You see a single swipe when in fact it’s swiped twice — once for the legit transaction and a second time for the scammer. It can be on a POS scanner in a store or installed on the card reader on an ATM machine.
