My Father died 6 months ago and I have reason to believe that my brother is using his credit cards. ( same name) I know that most of my Fathers c c’s were canceled and closed. I do not know the name of the banks that are still open. Who can I contact to investigate this? Thanks

Would this be considered elderly abuse or credit card fraud?

The Undertaker asked:

My grandmother passed away in August but we weren’t able to get access to her house until today. As soon as we got in, we started going through here credit card bills and discovered that she had 7 different credit cards with a combined balance of over $80,000. Now this is highly uncharacteristic of her to have debt like this. We strongly suspect that my aunt and uncle who live on the same property as my grandmother did may have had something to do with this. Neither my aunt or uncle has had a job in the last 2 years and my aunt has a gambling problem. Would we go to the police to get this investigated for elderly abuse or do we need to get the credit card companies to investigate this first?
i should mention the reason why we weren’t able to get into my grandmothers house until today is because of a brief court battle with my aunt and uncle.
I’m pretty sure the credit card companies don’t know yet that she’s passed away.

HELP ? Can this person go to jail for credit card fraud?

YE asked:

One of my cousins opened and used credit cards in the name of another family member, which lived at the same address. When the first bill came, the person found out and made the cousin pay all that was owed on the cards. My cousin paid right away so the credit was not damaged and no charges were pressed at the time. Now, 1 year later the person is threatening to press charges and “put him in jail” because she is upset over a family matter that has nothing to do with the credit card issues of the past. Can my cousin go to jail over this if he paid the balance at the first month (he gave the money to her and she paid them herself) and no charges were pressed? Please help, I know that he did very wrong, but he paid for it and her credit was not affected at all. I think its wrong she uses this against him now.

Can I take back or settle a report of credit card fraud?

broker_matthew asked:

My parents used one of my credit cards to pay a bill and they never told me. I called the company and reported it as soon as something seemed suspicious, and my parents only told me that they had used the card afterward.

Can I call them and tell them that? Will they end the fraud investigation and can they just send my parents a bill for the money? Or do they have to complete the investigation and file charges against them?
