Can I be blamed for credit card fraud based on background?

BIG B MAN asked:

Okay…here’s my situation. Two years ago I had a drug addiction. That addiction led to 3 arrests, one for grand theft. A year ago I was sentenced to probation, of which I’ve had early termination. I’ve done a complete 180 with my life and now have a very good job (they know about my background). I work at a resort and someone stole a guest’s credit card information and attempted to purchase over $1000 worth of goods. Now, the person had to have physical access to the credit card (because of the CVV number). My concern is that I don’t want to be blamed or suspected of this due to my past. I have worked my way from the life I was living and am trying to put the past to rest. I have no knowledge of this and I was at work when the transaction took place. I have access to credit card informtion, but not CVV numbers. Will I be a prime suspect due to my background? Thanks for any real help someone can give me.
Thanks Trooper your answer makes sense…I guess I should stop worrying!

World of Warcraft Credit Card Fraud?

Ender asked:

I play a game called World of Warcraft where you pay a monthly subscription fee of $14.99. My account was hacked (Stolen) in which my login information to the game’s website was changed, LUCKILY I didn’t have my credit card information on file for the account. The person that stole my account changed the log in information and made it so that I could no longer access the account along with signing up with their credit card for the monthly service charge, now I have regained access to the account and their information is on file. Am I legally prosecutable for not WILLFULLY dis-enrolling them from automatic payment for the account that they stole from me?

What is the punishment for getting caught committing credit card fraud?

Rainbow asked:

Someone I know got his credit card number stolen. The guy was caught in the act of stealing credit card numbers. I dont know how he stole the credit card information possibly from the credit card company. But anyhow what are the consequences or punishments that this man will get. Will he go to jail, what if he younger than 17 years old? So what kind of sentence will this guy get in the state of NJ being under the age of 18?
More detail please, where can I find out all about this, like the how much are the fines.

What are the consequences of credit card fraud?

Josh H asked:

My teacher in my Economics class gave us a handout and we need to research on this. A man at his workplace took down credit card information, and used it to purchase an item online for 180.00. What we have to find out is if it is likely this case would be investigated, and what the consequences or punishments are for this action, as well as how likely he’d be caught. Does anyone know the details? Would an insurance agency typically not go full out on a transaction this low? In my opinion, i would think not because it wasn’t a HUGE amount of money but I may be wrong.
